The LEGO sets that unlock the most builds

As an Amazon Associate, Build Again earns from qualifying purchases.

If you're buying one set to get the most out of Build Again, buy a classic brick box or a Creator 3-in-1. Those two families are what our designers build from most, because they're full of ordinary bricks in ordinary colours, which is exactly what a new model needs. A licensed set with lots of special pieces makes one wonderful model and not much else.

Here are the sets in our library that open the most builds today, with the number of Build Again builds each one unlocks. The library grows every week, and these counts only go up. As of 7 November 2026, 237 builds are live.

A few things to keep in mind

  • Check the cupboard first. Add the sets you already own to your shelf in Build Again before buying anything; the "Grow the library" section then tells you, for your family, which one set would open the most new builds. That answer is usually better than any list, because it counts the pieces you already have.
  • Two small sets beat one big one for a young builder. A 150-piece set with 4 builds gives four evenings; a 1,500-piece set with 1 build gives one long weekend and a lot of sorting.
  • The number on the box matters. Our builds are matched to the exact set number, so 31058 counts and a similar-looking box may not. The number is on the front of the box, bottom corner.
